Omar Kamel has been playing video games since the early days of the ZX-81. He moved on to the ZX-Spectrum, then to the Atari ST, then to the Xbox 360, a PS4, and now the Oculus Quest. His favorite all-time games are Tokyo Extreme Racer, Power Stone 2, Blur, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War (2018), and, more recently, Beat Saber and Racket Fury.
With atmospheric visuals and excellent sound design, a good variety of levels, and engaging boss battles, The Light Brigade is an excellent addition to the Meta Quest gaming library.
Barbaria is a great game that's a pleasure to play. It's not afraid to show attitude, and it carries itself with an endearing, whimsical stride.
Priced at just $9.99, Silhouette will keep you busy for 3โ4 hours, more or less, even if some of that time is wasted on occasional hand-tracking issues.
Colossal Cave is a colossal bore. It's a point-and-click port of a text-based game that refuses to acknowledge the medium to which it's been ported.
The Bobo VR M2 Plus strap is a great accessory for the Quest 2. Itโs far superior to Metaโs own Elite Strap. Itโs well-built, well-designed, and the hot-swappable batteries allow for almost infinite VR playtime.
Linelight is a deceptively simple puzzler that comes in a tiny package at only 250 megabytes. It features around 200 mini-puzzles spread across six levels and, as it says on the figurative 'tin', movement is your only interaction.
A great sequel that feels more like an extended DLC, Moss: Book II has great graphics, great animations, and fantastic sound.
With great core mechanics, a fun concept, and a great art style, The Last Clockwinder is weakest at scope and exposition; it's a good game and a fun puzzler if not the must-have title I'd hoped it would be.
The graphics in Iron Guard are crisp and clear; most enemy units are easily distinguishable, the environments are varied and colourful, and atmospheric effects lend a visual flair to the action.
Area Man Lives offers an interesting concept, great voice actors, and a touching story but suffers significantly from some issues that could easily be remedied with updates.
Despite getting the game a few days before it was released, Tentacular took a lot longer to complete than I had expected.
