It seems as if the reviewer isn’t into management games and, for this reason, fiercely condemns every aspect of this game. The fact that mechanics for completing jobs seemed counter-intuitive provides an additional hint of this bias; I used them spontaneously as I do in most management games.
 
This game isn’t a masterpiece but it is definitely a good game. One of the few good management games currently available in VR. It finely combines the day phase where we spot market opportunities and plan ahead with the night phase where we engage in time management and manual skills. Controls are sometimes fiddly and most furniture is useless but, overall, the experience is smooth and satisfying. Audio and visuals are average, not terrible.
 
Is it repetitive? Yes, but no more so than many excellent games. Some games are repetitive at shooting zombies, others are repetitive at crafting items. Repetition is boring only when we don’t like the action being repeated. If your interest is focused on action/adventure/RPG types of games, Prison Boss is probably not for you. But if you enjoy management games, don’t miss this nice little production!
